The Ninth Scribe's Online Photographic Gallery of Extreme Weather

I love photographing Mother Nature at her best. She invokes so much awe and inspiration. Unlike most other things in life, she can not be easily placed out of sight and out of mind. When this has happened, she was swift to present herself ~ in full fury ~ to remind us all of our place in her world. So, here she is through my eyes.... the way I see her.

The storm moved in so quickly that, by the time I arrived for work at the Valero Station (on the corner of Route 6 and Brackett Road in North Eastham, Ma), these clouds moved in just over the intersection. It was as if they had formed arms to reach out to me as they caught the sun between them. It was breath-taking to watch!

Nature doesn't always strike fear in the hearts and minds of those who watch... there are times when she can be comforting. This photograph was taken from the Valero Station as well, just after the death of a loved one, and as you can see she was anything but threatening! To me, it was like being handed a bouquet of hearts.

I took this photograph of the Cape Cod canal, its banks were swollen by heavy rains and powerful tide! In the background you can see the Sagamore bridge. It's one of the only two bridges leading onto Cape Cod. Of course, one can always travel here by sea or air.

This storm was the first of two back-to-back storms that cancelled the New Year's celebrations in Boston! It looks like a lot of snow but it was completely gone here on Cape Cod by the time the second one came. In fact, we had a warm-up with temps as high as 60 degrees!
